BARON WOLMAN
The Early Years: 1967-1969
Baron Wolman was the first chief photographer of Rolling Stone magazine. Working from his home studio in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury, Wolman documented the Summer of Love and the music that made it famous. During the late '60s and early '70s, Wolman photographed primarily in black and white, since Rolling Stone had no
color capability in the early days, and for years he made his own prints in a basement darkroom. Like the music and musicians of the '60s, Wolman's pictures have stood the test of time, becoming icons in their own right. Wolman has been a part of the Santa Fe, New Mexico, art scene since 2001.
